Living Things: Diversity of Life

In this module, students learn about biodiversity, the diversity of life in habitats. Students observe different habitats and the living things that grow in the different environments. They engage in different scenarios to learn the importance of having many different organisms in a habitat. Living things are impacted negatively when there is a lack of diversity.

After students establish an understanding of the importance of biodiversity, they focus on plants. They investigate how much water and sunlight plants need to grow in an environment. Incorporating the knowledge and skills gained throughout the module, they use the design process to design a planter garden to grow in a specific environment.
